Acknowledgement: Laura Beveridge for the rallying call ‘Make care incredible – they need love’, in ‘Kids in care. Let’s start a Revolution!’ TEDx Glasgow.

Event Purpose

Together we are bringing love into children’s homes and unlocking their potential to be incredible places for children to live and thrive, and for them to be the foundation for  successful and happy adult lives.

Children’s Homes Quality’s Second Lovin’ Care Gathering

will bring together leaders and researchers in the field of children’s residential care, lived experience leaders, and professionals with a shared interest in building up love led practice in children’s homes.

We will explore the issues which have arisen over the last 4 years of promoting our Lovin’ Care approach and share the excellent practice which is emerging. Speakers and workshop leaders will celebrate, inspire, motivate and guide you on the path of making sure that love is part of the deal for children in our care.

Event Summary

We know that to thrive, children need to feel secure in loving relationships. Yet too many professionals in and around the care system also feel that we aren’t supposed to love the children we work with or for, tell them we love them, or encourage them to get close to and love us. This is changing, and a Lovin’ Care approach is improving children’s outcomes, and supporting many more cared for children to go on to live safe, happy, successful, and settled lives.

CHQ is leading the movement to bring love led practice into the children’s residential sector. We were delighted and proud to have been awarded the Foundervine Future Leaders Award, for Social Impact Leader 2024 in recognition of the significance and benefit of the work.

We are determined to continue to support you to create the conditions where love can safely flourish between children and children’s homes staff. CHQ’s evidence based Lovin’ Care approach has supported homes to radically change the way they work, releasing their staff and children’s potential to connect deeply and thrive.

Evaluations have shown how this approach has: improved staff morale and retention, decreased incidents which challenge staff, helped children to co-regulate, and has improved children’s progress.
