What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and is the term used to describe the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. It enables learning to become conscious and proactive, rather than passive and reactive.
CPD combines different methodologies to learning, such as training workshops, conferences and events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques and ideas sharing, all focused for an individual to improve and have effective professional development. (CPD UK)

Why CPD is important?

•To continually develop the skills & knowledge necessary to maintain a sustainable and effective home.
•To enhance and improve your ability to make a positive difference to children.
•To ensure that both academic and practical knowledge does not become outdated or obsolete.
•To continually ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ yourself so practice, and the practice of staff remains current and effective.
•To model and promote CPD amongst the leadership and staff team to encourage a learning culture in homes.
•To meet regulatory requirements.
